School

I have been behind on my blogging this week but for good reason.  School started back on Monday and Benjamin had a great first day in his new classroom.  His two best friends, Lyla and Evan, moved up with him so I was very glad that he has some friends in his new class.  His teachers have said that he is doing great and oddly but thankfully he has been sleeping better in his new class.  He used to only nap for about an hour but all this week he has been taking 2 hour naps.  It could also be because it is the first week back.  Benjamin has also been feeding himself all of his meals and has been doing great with the spoon.  I was fairly certain he was going to be left handed but now I am not so sure since he is holding the spoon in his right hand to eat.  We shall see.  My first week back on the other hand has not been so great.  I have been sick, sick, sick this week with what I am sure is allergies or sinus.   I have been feeling terrible and have been in bed most nights by 8.  No fun at all and because of that I have hardly uploaded any pictures so in honor of throwback Thursday, here is a picture from Benjamin's last day in his old classroom (last Friday, ha!)!

Benjamin's vocabulary has really started to flourish these last few weeks and yesterday he started saying "right there" so now when we ask him where something is he will say "right there" when he finds it.  Too cute.  

Golf

What a weekend we had!  The draft party was so much fun and yet so exhausting at the same time.  All of us were so tired yesterday that we really didn't do much of anything except lay around and visit with Poppy who stopped by, unfortunately GiGi was out of town.  Poppy brought Benjamin his first set of golf clubs so Benjamin spent Sunday evening working on his swing.  He also worked on hitting the walls with the clubs, we are working on that part. 

Just Stuff

Just a few things that have been going on that I haven't shared on here, although most of you already know.  I am now the Social Studies Department Chair at my school so I am very excited about new position and looking forward to a great school year full of learning new things and many challenges.  This weekend we are hosting Matthew's fantasy football team's draft party at our house, should be lots of fun catching up with friends we don't get to see often enough.  On Monday the kids will start back at school and Benjamin will move up to his new classroom so a first day for both of us. 

A few weeks ago when we went to the library, we stopped by Clear Lake park first to play, personally I think our playground is a lot better and I think Benjamin agreed because he wasn't that excited so we headed to the library not long after, not to mention it was HOT!

School

Just a few school pictures...

Benjamin is moving up classrooms on Monday and I know he is more than ready.  His new class is 18-24 months and being that he is 19 months, it is time, aside from the age though, he really is ready and I am so happy that his 2 best friends will be moving up with him.

The Home Depot

After Pops and Matthew built the garden on Saturday, that only meant one thing for Sunday- it was time for a trip to Home Depot!  First we stopped for lunch at The Gumbo Bar, followed by some ice cream from Marble Slab and then it was on to Home Depot to pick out plants for our garden.  Benjamin had so much fun looking at all of the fork lifts and riding lawn mowers they had in the garden section.  Seeing big vehicles of any kind is his favorite thing right now, especially dump trucks!

Baseball and Gardens

What a weekend we had!  Nana and Pops came to visit and we accomplished so much around the house.  Pops and Matthew built a raised garden in the backyard that looks awesome! 

With Benjamin's help of course!  It got rid of the leftover dirt we had so now we can start on the pergola since we finally got approval from the Homeowner's Association.  Nana and I shopped till we dropped on Saturday and found lots of cute stuff for the house.  Everything is coming together and I am loving the way it is turning out.  While we were out shopping Nana bought Benjamin a baseball and bat that he loves. 

 

It was a great weekend and Benjamin loved seeing his Nana and Pops!  Thanks for the visit Nana and Pops, we love you and can't wait to see you real soon!



Stickers

Sunday we spent the afternoon at MawMaw's and she was all set up for Benjamin to create a sticker masterpiece.  Luckilly this time he had paper to stick them to rather than the coffee table.

 

Back to School

School has officially started back for me =(  and I am already missing my days with Benjamin.  He had only been going to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the summer so Monday was an especially long day for him.   He was exhausted when I picked him up.  I am sure it will take a few weeks to fully adjust to the full week again but just knowing how much fun he has at school though makes it so much easier to be away from him all day. 



Who am I kidding?  Monday was an especially long day for ME!  I haven't seen 5AM in a long time and will definitely be going to be early tonight!

Hey Cupcake!

We made cupcakes yesterday afternoon so after dinner we tried them out.

Library

Yesterday we spent the afternoon at the library and Benjamin loved it!  The children's area was super cute with lots of big stuffed animals, which of course Benjamin loved, plastic ducks to sit on, and lots and lots of puzzles to play with. 

In a Pickle



Yes, that would be Benjamin sitting in the book case. Benjamin is quite the climber these days. On Monday afternoon we went to McDonald's for an ice cream cone and he was trying to climb over the booth. On Sunday afternoon we played with the neighbors at the park and Benjamin bolted for the big kid play structure and when I finally got to him he was half way up the big slides, via slide! I am definitely getting my exercise chasing this little monkey around everyday! 

Rainforest Cafe

As I told you yesterday, Saturday we spent the afternoon at the Rainforest Cafe and we all had a wildly good time!  We will definitely be going back very soon!

Then we spent the rest of the afternoon playing at MawMaw's house and eating chocolate.  

Dump Trucks and Legos

We had a pretty awesome weekend around here, Friday we played at the park or outside the majority of the day because the weather was just awesome and Saturday we spent the day with MawMaw furniture shopping and having fun at the Rainforest Cafe. 

Friday morning started off with dump trucks and legos, 2 favorites around here these days, especially the dump trucks!

Then we got dressed and headed outside to enjoy the gorgeous weather!

This is the view from our drive way, it is like heaven for Benjamin!  Sometimes we just stand in the drive way and watch the trucks.  We also like to watch their progress since this is the construction on the other side of our neighborhood and our new splash park and pavillion.



Lawn Boy

I'd say we have the cutest lawn boy in the neighborhood! 

And yet again I am reminded of how desperately I need a new phone with a MUCH better camera.  Hope everyone has a great weekend!  We are headed to the Children's Museum!
