Nature Expo

Last Friday our neighborhood had a nature expo at the recreation center so we all headed over to see the reptiles that Brazos Bend State Park brought.

When we told Benjamin we were going to see animals he immediately asked us of there would be elephants and monkeys. After we explained we were seeing reptiles and what reptiles were he seemed a little more excited but I honestly think he was pretty bummed there were no elephants or monkeys.  And as for Thomas, well he snoozed right through the whole event. :)

Hospital Continued

We spent 3 long days and 2 even longer nights in the hospital and were more than ready to get home to Benjamin and to our own bed.

A photographer came by to take some newborn pictures of Thomas while we were in the hospital and this is a picture I took while she was posing Thomas. Sweet baby. Meanwhile back at our house Benjamin was having a blast with Nana which made it a little easier to be gone but we were very ready to get home and be a family of 4.

Hospital Day 2

The second day we were in the hospital Benjamin came up to meet his little brother and it made me so happy to see the bond they shared almost instantly.  We of course had been trying to prepare Benjamin as much as possible for the changes that were coming so it literally brought tears to me eyes to see how excited he was to meet Thomas.

Benjamin had fun playing in the bed, too. He loved pressing the buttons to make the bed go up and down.  Auntie took Benjamim to the gift shop to pick out a special toy and book for Thomas and Benjamin picked the cutest "Easter bunny" and a Texas counting book, perfect to introduce Thomas to all things Texan.

Hospital

Thomas was born on April 16 via scheduled c section. I have to admit, I don't know if it was because I already knew what to expect, but this c section seemed a lot easier than the last, I felt great the entire surgery. We knew that Thomas was a big baby as during all of his ultrasounds he consistently measured above the 87th percentile so we had all made guesses as to his weight and length and he was born weighing 8 lbs 14 oz, 20.5 inches. That's 10 ounces more than Benjamin weighed a whole inch longer. I could definitely tell the difference in sizes during this pregnancy but it was worth every extra ache and pain. It was the perfect day and I couldn't wait for Benjamin to get to meet his little brother.

Party of 4

Last Thursday we welcomed our newest addition, Thomas Joseph Grissom, and have been in love ever since. I've mainly been trying to catch up on sleep which is why I haven't posted much lately but with the first week behind us Thomas is getting on more of a schedule with more regular feelings which means I am getting a little more sleep. Benjamin has been adjusting to his new role of big brother perfectly and the bond between these 2 already makes my heart so full. Benjamin just wants to "hold it" as he says and help change diapers. It has been a fantastic first week as a family of 4.

School

I can't seem to get my Easter pictures to upload, hopefully it is just a technical difficulty and they aren't lost forever because Benjamin sure did love Easter egg hunting!

Here are some pictures of Benjamin at school.  I love that his teachers send me pictures throughout the day.  Here he is hard at work on his duck collage.

And popping bubbles on bubble wrap.  Everyday is a learning adventure!

Sleepy

I have been very behind lately and have so much to catch up on, and I promise to do that this week before Thomas's arrival on Thursday, which we all can't wait for!  Benjamin's school sent me this picture of him napping last week and it pretty much sums up how I feel today so I thought it was only appropriate to share.

What a weekend we had!  We had a great day Saturday and spent most of the day outside playing at the park with the neighbors, playing with cars in the drive way or playing with bubbles.  Saturday night though things took a turn for the worse.  We had pizza for dinner, and luckily for whatever reason Benjamin decided he did not want to eat pizza, because later that night both Matt and I had food poisoning.  Matt started before I did but by 10:00 it was full on food poisoning in our house.  Not fun.  The only thing worse than having food poisoning is having food poisoning while you are 9 months pregnant.  THE MOST HORRIBLE THING EVER!  Needless to say I was up all night Saturday so I spent most of Sunday in bed recovering and Matt and Benjamin spent the day at Kemah.  It is times like this that remind me how lucky I am to have such a great husband.

The Easter Bunny

Auntie A and I went to Benjamin's Easter party at school last Friday and oh my gosh was his class the cutest!  We walked in and all of the kids were sitting at the table eating their party food wearing their bunny ears.  Benjamin's teacher's Ms. Destiny and Ms. Maria said that Benjamin had been saying he was the Easter Bunny all day.  Benjamin's personality has really blossomed lately and I swear he is the funniest kid I know.  After their party they all headed outside to hunt for eggs.  Benjamin was a little skeptical at first but once he found out the eggs had candy and treats inside it was game on!  He was running so fast for those eggs!

Fork Lifts

If you know Benjamin, you know that he loves fork lifts!  He loves when we tell him we are going to Home Depot because he knows he will get to sit on the fork lifts and he loves to ride his bike around the neighborhood to the new construction where he will get to see lots of fork lifts and diggers so it was no surprise to me last Sunday morning when Benjamin built a fork lift out of his mega blocks.

His imagination is growing every day and I love it.

Crawfish Boil

Sunday was a beautiful day and we got to spend it with friends and family boiling crawfish!  Our friends Aaron and Rebecca brought over their new puppy, Rocket, and Benjamin was so sweet with him!  We had been telling him that they were bringing over a baby dog so he kept calling him "baby dog."  It really was the cutest.  He would cuddle Rocket and cover him up with the blanket when he was sleeping which Benjamin did not like it when Rocket was sleeping, he wanted him to play with him, so he would also pull up his eye lids and lift his lips to wake him up.  Too funny.

We also celebrated GiGi's birthday on Sunday with what else but cake of course!  It was a great end to the weekend!

Bike

We have been doing a lot of bike riding lately ever since the weather has turned warm.  This is seriously Benjamin's favorite thing to do lately.  He wakes up and the first thing he asks to do is go outside and ride his bike.  So cute.  We usually ride around the neighborhood a couple of times making a stop at the playground of course!

Cheese

So much to catch up on but for now just some pictures of my sweet boy cheesin' it up in Daddy's car.  Matt has an Otis Redding CD that they listen to in his car and it has easily become Benjamin's favorite.  Anytime we get in the car now he asks for Otis.  One thing is for sure, he definitely has good taste in music. =)
