Dentist
Last Thursday before I took Thomas for his 2 week check up I took Benjamin to the dentist for his first cleaning and he did amazing! We had been telling him that he was going to the dentist a few days prior in order to get him excited and it definitely worked. He could not wait to meet the dentist. He asked everyone in the waiting room if they were seeing the dentist as well, it was really cute. I wasn't too sure how Benjamin was going to do in the actual chair but they had me fill out some paperwork before hand and one of the questions asked how I thought he would do and I checked the very well box and that's exactly how he did. He opened his mouth big and wide while they cleaned and got a perfect check up award at the end along with getting to pick prizes from the treasure chest.
2 Week Check Up
Last Thursday I took Thomas for his 2 week check up and we had a fantastic check up. He weighed in at 9 pounds 4 ounces so we got the go ahead to stretch his nightly feedings out to every 4 hours. Most nights he is eating every 2.5 hours but he's had a few 4 hour nights. Yay for more sleep! He did get a heel prick for his second newborn screen but he took it like a champ. Thomas has been pretty gassy lately, actually really gassy, and we've tried mylicon drops and gripe water and I can't say there's a noticeable difference so the pediatrician recommended I cut out dairy from my diet so that's what I have been doing. It's actually been a lot harder than I thought but I'm willing to try anything if it makes Thomas feel better because that makes us all feel better. Overall though it was a great check up!

Nature Expo
Last Friday our neighborhood had a nature expo at the recreation center so we all headed over to see the reptiles that Brazos Bend State Park brought.
When we told Benjamin we were going to see animals he immediately asked us of there would be elephants and monkeys. After we explained we were seeing reptiles and what reptiles were he seemed a little more excited but I honestly think he was pretty bummed there were no elephants or monkeys. And as for Thomas, well he snoozed right through the whole event. :)

Hospital Continued
We spent 3 long days and 2 even longer nights in the hospital and were more than ready to get home to Benjamin and to our own bed.
A photographer came by to take some newborn pictures of Thomas while we were in the hospital and this is a picture I took while she was posing Thomas. Sweet baby. Meanwhile back at our house Benjamin was having a blast with Nana which made it a little easier to be gone but we were very ready to get home and be a family of 4.

Hospital Day 2
The second day we were in the hospital Benjamin came up to meet his little brother and it made me so happy to see the bond they shared almost instantly. We of course had been trying to prepare Benjamin as much as possible for the changes that were coming so it literally brought tears to me eyes to see how excited he was to meet Thomas.
Benjamin had fun playing in the bed, too. He loved pressing the buttons to make the bed go up and down. Auntie took Benjamim to the gift shop to pick out a special toy and book for Thomas and Benjamin picked the cutest "Easter bunny" and a Texas counting book, perfect to introduce Thomas to all things Texan.

Hospital
Thomas was born on April 16 via scheduled c section. I have to admit, I don't know if it was because I already knew what to expect, but this c section seemed a lot easier than the last, I felt great the entire surgery. We knew that Thomas was a big baby as during all of his ultrasounds he consistently measured above the 87th percentile so we had all made guesses as to his weight and length and he was born weighing 8 lbs 14 oz, 20.5 inches. That's 10 ounces more than Benjamin weighed a whole inch longer. I could definitely tell the difference in sizes during this pregnancy but it was worth every extra ache and pain. It was the perfect day and I couldn't wait for Benjamin to get to meet his little brother.
