Baseball and Gardens

What a weekend we had!  Nana and Pops came to visit and we accomplished so much around the house.  Pops and Matthew built a raised garden in the backyard that looks awesome!

With Benjamin's help of course!  It got rid of the leftover dirt we had so now we can start on the pergola since we finally got approval from the Homeowner's Association.  Nana and I shopped till we dropped on Saturday and found lots of cute stuff for the house.  Everything is coming together and I am loving the way it is turning out.  While we were out shopping Nana bought Benjamin a baseball and bat that he loves.

It was a great weekend and Benjamin loved seeing his Nana and Pops!  Thanks for the visit Nana and Pops, we love you and can't wait to see you real soon!

Yard Work

We did a lot of work in the backyard this weekend.  On Saturday we spent most of the day planting in the beds.  We planted 11 different types of plants but my favorites are the Little Gem Magnolia tree, Meyer lemon tree and the Hydrangeas.  I can't wait for the lemons to grow!

Last week at school Benjamin learning all about plants. They have a garden at school that the big kids planted and Benjamin's class goes out to observe the changes, how much the plants have grown, etc.  which is perfect because now he has lots of plants to watch grow in our own backyard.

Next up for the backyard is building the pergola!

Some other things happening around here...school officially ended for me last Friday and summer has officially started!  Let the summer fun begin!  First thing on the list- get Benjamin's ears healthy!  Benjamin is having his tube surgery on Tuesday and I just know he is going to feel so much better and I will be so happy that he hopefully won't have as many ear infections.

Dirt

On Friday Matthew had a huge load of dirt delivered for the beds in the backyard.

Want to know the secret to really getting to know your neighbors?  Order a load of dirt.  At one point in the evening I felt like I was in an episode of "King of the Hill."  Matthew and our neighbor Rodney were standing in our cul de sac, drinking a beer, and staring and talking about the pile of dirt.   Too funny.  Our beds in the backyard that we dug out last weekend are really starting to come together thanks to Matthew and Uncle Elliott.  Now we just need to plant all of our plants this weekend!

On Saturday morning our new kitchen table and chairs were delivered, and sadly our sweet little punkin' pie woke up with a high fever so up to the doctor we went.  Matt had taken Benjamin to the ENT on Wednesday and she said he had an infection in his right ear and prescribed Augmentin but that obviously wasn't working because when we got to the Dr. Saturday both of Benjamin's ears were infected and the right ear had gotten worse.  I can't wait until next Tuesday when our sweet boy gets his tubes put in so hopefully he will get some relief from these infections.  Benjamin slept most of the afternoon which was perfect because we got in a visit from MawMaw and Elliott and Matt were able to fill all of the beds.  Nana stayed with Benjamin in the afternoon and Matt, Elliott, Annah and I spent some time at the pool.

Productive Weekend

We accomplished so much this weekend around the house.  On Saturday MawMaw and I went shopping and picked out a new kitchen table and chairs and a buffet.  I can't wait to see it in our house, I love it, and I know it is going to look perfect.  We installed ceiling fans in the bedrooms, ordered some art work for the walls, and started digging out the beds in the backyard.

Then we spent the rest of Sunday at the pool in our neighborhood.  It was the perfect end to a perfect weekend full of hard work around the house.
