Zoo

A few weeks ago Benjamin and I went to the Houston Zoo, just the two of us and we got to see the new gorillas! It was so hot outside but we got to the zoo right when it opened and left around noon, right when it was heating up. We spent most of our time at the monkeys and giraffes, but of course we checked out the new gorilla habitat and it is amazing! It is sooo big and there are three different viewing areas including an air conditioned indoor area. If you haven't gone to see them, I definitely recommend you go. We did check out the elephants, of course, and saw them getting a bath. The last time we were at the zoo was right before Thomas was born back in April and we got to see the baby elephants get a bath. It was neat to see those same babies getting a bath and to see how much they've grown in such a short time. I think the best part of our trip for Benjamin was getting to feed the giraffes with our train ride at the end coming in second.

When you feed the giraffes they give you 3 pieces of lettuce and you are supposed to feed 1 giraffe. There were 4 giraffes in the area and Benjamin gave a piece of lettuce to 3 and then of course 1 didn't get any, the little baby girrafe. Benjamin wanted to make sure the baby got some food so he asked the zookeeper for another piece of lettuce. He has such a big heart and is seriously the sweetest. Such a fun day with my love bug!
