The Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend we went to the Old Time Christmas Tree Farm in search of the Great Pumpkin!  It is traditionally a Christmas tree farm but they also do a pumpkin patch complete with a train and small farm animal area.  Being that it was the weekend before Halloween, it was pretty crowded, but we still managed to find the perfect pumpkin.

Ben was a little unsure at first.  It had rained a lot the night before so the ground was a little wet and because it was so crowded the only open spot was facing directly into the sun.

There were a few tears.

Then we switched spots and sat on top of the pumpkins!

Ben found the perfect pumpkin.

And discovered that pumpkins also make great drums!

We had a great day at the pumpkin patch and Ben found the perfect pumpkin!  Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween tomorrow!

Last Week

Just a couple of things from last weekend that I didn't mention yet.  On Wednesday Ben came with me to Family Literacy Night at my school.  It is a big event we put on every year to promote literacy in our community.  We also read a school wide book this semester, Secret Saturdays by Torrey Maldonado and Torrey Maldonado came to our literacy night to sign books.  Ben was pretty tired at first as he only had a 45 minute nap that morning so he took a while to warm up to everyone.

Once he woke up and warmed up to everyone he was all smiles the rest of the night.

Here is Ben trying out the car seats at Babies R Us.  We went with this one and he has been loving riding in the car!

Thursday of last week Ben and I made Halloween treats for his teachers at school.  Ben loves riding in the grocery carts at the store!

No tricks, just treats for Ben's teachers! =)

And just a few more cute bath tub pictures!  I think these two are framers!

After Bath Pictures

I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures of Ben after his bath the other night, especially since he was just hanging out watching T.V. in his new favorite pose.  I don't know where Ben got this from but this is how he likes to hang out these days.

All thats missing is a sheep skin rug!

Love snuggling with my sweet boy after his bath.

We had a busy weekend around here!  We officially started the house search yesterday and spent the day driving around League City checking out neighborhoods.  Ben didn't enjoy spending so much time in the car but he did enjoy lunch at Boondoggles and dinner at Pappasitos!  Mama, too! I can't say that we have narrowed down any specific neighborhoods just yet but I definitely know that I don't want to be in a neighborhood where Dallas grass comes standard.  We also bought Ben a new car seat yesterday.  His infant seat was just getting to be too small so we upgraded him to a convertible car seat.  Ben also added a new word to his vocabulary- Mama!  Ben now says Dada, baba, and Mama!  Dada still seems to be his favorite but I am definitely proud to be hearing Mama!  He also has 4 teeth now!  3 on the bottom and 1 on top!  Today we are spending the day at home just hanging out and getting ready for a very special birthday coming up this week!

High Chair Fun

Last weekend we went out to lunch on Saturday and then out for breakfast on Sunday morning.  Ben was so funny and just wanted to turn around in the high chair and look at everyone else in the restaurants.  Such an inquisitive baby!

Church

Ben was pretty excited about going to church Wednesday night!  It was way past his bed time when church ended but he was a trooper the whole evening and never got fussy.  He is such a people person and he loved leaning around me to see the people sitting behind us all night.  I decided to dress him in this casual outfit because I knew he was going to fall asleep on the way home and since I had given him a bath before church I just took off the jacket and laid him in his crib when we got home.

This week it is just me, Ben, and the pups until Thursday.  Matt had to leave for Denver this evening for work.  And in case you have always wondered what Matt does for a living, he is an environmental consultant, mainly for oil and gas companies.  He graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in forest science and now works in the environmental field.  He travels maybe 30% of the year around the United States and the other time he works from his office in Houston.  It occurred to me recently that not a lot of people know what he does.  And if you don't know already, I graduated from Houston Baptist University with a degree in pedagogy and I teach 8th grade U.S. History in Houston ISD.  I guess I should have done a formal Meet the Grissom's page when I started this blog.  Maybe one day, but not this week!  :)  Hope everyone has a great week!

Also- major news from this weekend!  We officially have a crawler!  Once I figure out how to upload videos to this blog I will post videos!  So exciting!

And 1 More...

Check out this awesome photo of Matt during Tour du Teche!  He is the living logo of the race!  Check out the logo and then check out this picture!   And I have to give Pops (Ben's grandfather) a shout out because he is the one who founded this amazing race, Tour du Teche, that brings so much awareness to Bayou Teche!  It makes my heart happy that Matt does this race every year.  I know he cannot wait until Ben can paddle with him!

Weekend Recap!

We hope you all enjoyed your weekend as much as we did ours.

Saturday morning we went for a walk around the neighborhood and stopped off at the swings.

Ben loves the swings!  He also enjoyed watching Matt swing as well!

Then we spent the afternoon enjoying the beautiful sunshine.

Ben contemplated venturing out into the grass.

Then decided our blanket would be much better.  Check out those mosquito bites!  What can I say, we have a sweet baby boy and even the mosquitos love him!

After Ben's afternoon nap we played in his room and then headed to GiGi and Poppy's for dinner.

The mosquitos got Ben's cheek as well.  What can I say, sweet boy!

Poppy made dinner for Matt, myself, Ben's Aunt Natalie and Uncle Luke, and of course, GiGi.  We had black eyed pea fritters, caprese salad, osso buco, and pears with chocolate custard for dessert.  It was all AMAZING!  Thanks GiGi and Poppy, we enjoyed the food and company!

Sunday was pretty rainy around Houston but that didn't stop us from heading out to the Haute Wheels Houston Food Truck Festival.  We had fun listening to the live music and tasting different foods from the truck.  Ben enjoyed dancing to the music and people watching.  He cracked up laughing watching this man eat a burrito that was sitting at the same table as us under the tent.

Check out that top tooth!
