Pirates

As I mentioned yesterday, Benjamin and I headed to Moody Gardens to see the pirates and we also explored the Rainforest Pyramid, as well.

When going to see pirates it is only appropriate for one to wear the proper attire.

A pirate hat and pirate t shirt of course!

Unfortunately these are the only pictures I took as there was so much to see that it was hard to keep up with Benjamin while trying to snap pictures so I stashed the camera away and adventuring we went!  Benjamin loved everything, he wanted to know what everything was and would often make his excited face followed by an "aahhh."  We were a little bummed that we didn't see the monkeys, they are free roaming in the pyramid and it was so hot outside coupled with the humidity in the pyramid and they were hiding in the cool areas.  I don't blame them, just means we will have to make another trip to Moody Gardens!

Puzzles

Our Sunday morning playing trains also consisted of puzzles.

And pulling giraffes around.  Happy Wednesday!   We are off to see the pirates at Moody Gardens...aargh!

Sand Table

What a fun weekend we had!  Auntie A came into town to celebrate Poppy's 60th birthday on Sunday and we had lots of fun celebrating her birthday as well on Saturday night.  Saturday Auntie A and I had a nice lunch at a little bistro and Saturday night we had a nice dinner to celebrate her birthday with MawMaw and Aunt Matt.  We spent most of Saturday afternoon playing outside at the playground and in Benjamin's sand table.

It was a very fun weekend celebrating 2 very special people.  Happy Birthday Poppy and Auntie A, we love you very much and hope you had the happiest of Birthdays.

Popsicles

It has been so hot outside lately so we have been cooling off the only way we know how, with popsicles, of course!

Concerts in the Park

Last night we experienced Americana at its finest!  We headed to Galveston to spend the evening with MawMaw, Armin, and Gayle to listen to the music at the concert in the park.  Amber and I would go to these concerts with our parents and MawMaw and PawPaw when we were little and lived in Galveston so it was neat for Benjamin to get to experience it as well.

Our evening started out with hamburgers at the VFW.  Yes, the VFW.  Every Tuesday evening they have a fundraiser selling hamburgers and they were darn good!  Benjamin wasn't in to the hamburgers that much but he sure did enjoy banging on the slot machines and dancing in Armin and Gayle's laps!

Then we walked across the street to enjoy the music!

Benjamin leading the maraca song.  I love his independance and free spirit.

Such a fun evening!

Cruisin'

Just another fun summer morning spent playing at the playground in our neighborhood.   And on the walk home Benjamin got a kick out of dumping out our ice and putting it back in the cup and dumping it out, over and over.  Good thing we were headed home because it has been so HOT lately!

Hand, Foot, and Mouth

Benjamin woke up around 5 AM on Saturday with a 104 fever so by 1030 we were in the Dr's office and by 12 we were home with the diagnosis of Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease,  a virus that causes sores on the hands, feet, and inside the mouth.  The pediatrician said she has seen so many cases lately as it usually spreads rampant in the summer months.  No doubt Benjamin got it from school as kids 4 and under are the ones who spread it since most adults have built up antibodies to the virus.  Anyway, our sweet Benjamin was absolutely miserable Saturday.  He literally laid on the couch all day or in our arms and only managed to eat a little ice cream as his poor little mouthwas covered in sores.  After a very long night Saturday (he was up every 2 hours) he woke up with fever still on Sunday but was drinking more fluids and eating a little more, although still only ice cream and popsicles.  Luckily his fever broke and by Sunday evening he was drinking and eating lots more and on Monday morning he woke up fever free and I could tell he was definitely starting to feel better.  He was playing and more of himself.  By Monday afternoon he was eating pasta and mashed potatoes.  Benjamin usually attends school on Tuesday and Thursdays but I am going to keep him home tomorrow as the pediatrician said the sores take about 7 days to heal.  Not a fun weekend AT ALL!  I hope this is Benjamin's last go round with this nasty hand, foot, and mouth virus.

These pictures were on Sunday when he was starting to feel better.

Trucks

We spent most of Friday playing outside.  The weather was perfect- overcast and cloudy with a cool breeze.  It was a nice break from the blazing hot sun we have had.  So Benjamin and I played with sidewalk chalk, pushed his car around, and played at the park.  We also found ourselves back outside Friday evening.

Benjamin loves pushing his toy trucks around and I love that we live at the end of the cul de sac so he has plenty of space to play without cars coming down the street all the time.

Then we walked over to the playground and spent the rest of the evening playing with the neighbors at the playground.

With our truck of course!

Clean Baby

There is nothing better than a clean baby fresh out of the bath.   And nothing better than a clean baby fresh out of the bath playing in his Thomas towel.

Slam Dunk

Benjamin and I went shopping yesterday and picked up a new basketball goal.  He loves it!

He is definitely the cutest basketball player I have ever seen.

P.S.- I think Matt is enjoying the basketball goal just as much as Benjamin!
