Zoo

A few weeks ago Benjamin and I went to the Houston Zoo, just the two of us and we got to see the new gorillas! It was so hot outside but we got to the zoo right when it opened and left around noon, right when it was heating up. We spent most of our time at the monkeys and giraffes, but of course we checked out the new gorilla habitat and it is amazing! It is sooo big and there are three different viewing areas including an air conditioned indoor area. If you haven't gone to see them, I definitely recommend you go. We did check out the elephants, of course, and saw them getting a bath. The last time we were at the zoo was right before Thomas was born back in April and we got to see the baby elephants get a bath. It was neat to see those same babies getting a bath and to see how much they've grown in such a short time. I think the best part of our trip for Benjamin was getting to feed the giraffes with our train ride at the end coming in second.

When you feed the giraffes they give you 3 pieces of lettuce and you are supposed to feed 1 giraffe. There were 4 giraffes in the area and Benjamin gave a piece of lettuce to 3 and then of course 1 didn't get any, the little baby girrafe. Benjamin wanted to make sure the baby got some food so he asked the zookeeper for another piece of lettuce. He has such a big heart and is seriously the sweetest. Such a fun day with my love bug!

Swimming Lessons

Benjamin started swimming lessons back in June and he is doing amazing! He is definitely not afraid of the water and Coach Steven has been so great, he makes every class so much fun! Benjamin puts his head under water, climbs in and out of the pool, will jump from the side and does awesome at kicking! Our little fish!

4 Months

Wow!  I can't believe our sweet, cuddly, squeezable baby boy is already 4 months old!  Time has sure flown by since we brought him home.  Thomas's personality is really starting to develop and he is just the happiest baby and is always smiling.  He loves to snuggle and be held and I certainly don't mind snuggling and holding him!  Thomas started rolling over from back to front 1 day before his 4 month birthday and has been talking and cooing soooo much lately.  He loves to hear his own voice.  Thomas is still nursing in the evening and mornings and eats like a champ at school.  We are holding off on starting food until he is 6 months old.  Sleeping is still a challenge some nights.  I have always followed the book Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, which I am a firm believer in as it worked wonders for Benjamin, but it has been a little hard to make sure that Thomas naps on time when he goes to school, and good daytime sleep is vital for good nighttime sleep.  We are working on it though and it has been getting better at school.  I think part of it is just getting Thomas used to all of the new noises and light during naps.  For the most part, Thomas has been going to bed around 7,  which is about an hour later than when he should, so I am really going to try to get him to bed around 6/630 from now on.  The last month has been so much fun watching Thomas's personality develop and grow.  Thomas really loves to play on the floor and enjoys laying on his tummy pillow most of all.  The kick and play piano is still a favorite but he mostly prefers to be sitting up these days.  We have recently started putting him in the exersaucer and he is really loving that! I think he enjoys the view much more sitting up.

I could just eat him up I love him so!  Happy 4 months sweet baby boy, we love you!

Back to School

School officially started last Monday and I am definitely missing the lazy days at home with my boys but also am very excited for the new school year. Benjamin moved up to the older 2's class 2 weeks ago and he is loving it! He is also with 2 of his best friends again, Evan and Sadique, who had moved up a week earlier than Benjamin, so he is excited to be with them again.

And Thomas also started school 2 weeks ago. I wanted to start him a few weeks before I went back to work so that he could get adjusted and used to a new routine before I went back to work.

I think it's going to be a great school year for everyone!

Fun with Auntie

Last week Auntie came in town and we celebrated her birthday!

With cake of course!!!

Benjamin wanted to play in Thomas's seat and then quickly realized that it was in deed for babies like we told him and decided he did not want to play in it anymore!

Thomas sure does like it though!

Saturday Auntie and I did some shopping and found the best antique stores in Houston, my new favorites for furniture and decor! I bought a few rugs and baskets and Auntie bought some baskets and picture frames. We followed our shopping with lunch at Pappasitos, our favorite, and spent the rest of the afternoon at home with Aunt Matt and MawMaw. Busy and fun weekend!

Concert in the Park

Last week Matt and Benjamin went to Galveston for the concert in the park with MawMaw, Armin, and Gayle. Thomas and I stayed home because it is just so hot outside and too hot for Thomas to be outside.

We sure did miss a fun time!
