A VERY Good Friday!

Today is Good Friday and it is an extra special day to us because it is Ben's Grandmother GiGi's Birthday AND his Auntie Lauren's Birthday!  We are so sad that we can't be with you both to wish you a Happy Birthday and give you big hugs and kisses but know that we are thinking about you and sending you birthday wishes for a great day!  We love you both!

Silly Faces!

Sunday was a VERY lazy day around the Grissom house with lots of time cuddling with Ben, watching TV in bed, and making silly faces!  It makes me laugh so much because Ben has become quite the little ham!  Everytime he sees me hold up my iPhone he just starts smiling and laughing.  Now I just need him to get used to doing that when I use the big camera! 

 

I usually make silly faces at Ben to get him to start smiling and I am pretty sure at this point he was thinking he had a pretty silly Momma!

 

But then the smiles returned.

 

I just love this one.  We did manage to make it out of the house for an afternoon walk so I threw this hat on Ben and he just looks too cute!

Crawfish!

I love this time of year for a few reasons- 1. the days are longer 2. crawfish!  Saturday we decided to boil crawfish at the house so we could all enjoy the sunshine outside.

 

 

 

Life is so much fun since this little guy came along.  What a lucky Mama I am.

Updates!

Hi!  So much has happened in the past few days and we have been BUSY! BUSY! BUSY!  First update- to the makers of Mylicon I am forever grateful!  Wow!  Ben had a few days of terribly painful gas and I was leery of using the Mylicon drops at first for no reason other than we just didn't want to give him uneccesary medicine.  These have been an absolute lifesaver and Ben is definitely feeling better.  Second- Ben started school on Monday and I went back to work so Monday was definitely a sad day around the Grissom house.  Matt dropped him off Monday morning and I cried the whole way into work.  I kept thinking about my little guy crying as he wakes up from a nap and not seeing his Mommy's face.  It still breaks my heart BUT I know that he is enjoying his fun filled days so much!  Because of all the fun this week I have really been behind on the updates but I promise as we settle into our new routine I will get better.  Here is a little family picture from Sunday at the Regatta.

Buffalo Bayou Regatta

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Yesterday we spent the day with Poppy at the Buffalo Bayou Regatta.  The Buffalo Bayou Regatta is the largest canoe and kayak race in Texas and since Matt was canoeing in it we cheered him on from the banks of the bayou!

Doctor Update!

I took Ben for his 2 month checkup this morning and he looks GREAT!  My little guy weighs 11 lbs, 10 oz (44th percentile), is 22 1/4 inches long and his head circumference is 16 inches!  He has grown more than 3 inches since our last visit!  I knew his clothes weren't fitting anymore!  He was really enjoying the visit and the purple "dinosaur" room we were in up until it was shot time.  Oh man.  Ben had a sobbing cry for a good 10 minutes after the shots were over.  Poor baby and poor mommy because just seeing him cry made me cry. 

Once we were home Ben just wanted to do this...

But this Momma wanted to snuggle so the rest of the afternoon has been spent snuggling in the rocking chair with this handsome guy.

School Update!

Today I dropped Ben off for a few hours at his school so he can get used to his new teachers and classmates.  We got there around 9:45 and once I saw that he was more than fine I walked back to my car and might have shed a small tear or two.  :)  It was nice to run a few errands but I was definitely missing my little buddy.  When I arrived to pick him up a few hours later he was sleeping in his crib.  I don't know who had a bigger smile on their face when he woke up, me or Ben, but I think he was sure glad to see me.  I didn't bring my camera along today to take pictures but definitely will on Friday.  In the meantime, here are some of my favorite pictures from this past week. 

 

 

 

2 Months Old!

Ben turned 2 months old today!  Our happy little guy is smiling all the time and has Matt and I wrapped around his little finger.  He is starting to interact with his toys and definitely responds to our voices and silly faces.  He loves to mimic our silly faces!  He is cooing and "talking" up a storm!  He is a great eater and I am excited to see how much he weighs when we go to the doctor on Thursday for his 2 month visit.  Ben has been going down for the night around 9:30 or 10:00 and usually wakes around 6:30 or 7:00.  He has been doing this for about 2 weeks now and I am definitely enjoying the sleep!  Matt and I find ourselves staring at him everyday in awe of the fact that we made this adorable little boy.  We sure do love him!

Fun Friday!

Hey lovely readers!  Clearly I missed posting a Friday Favorite yesterday, but there was certainly good reason!  Matt came home early so we decided to head out for our first family outing.  I have to admit, it wasn't the most relaxing dinner I have had but the company certainly was the best!  We went to this little seafood restaurant down the street from out house and sat outside on the patio and Ben got to enjoy the fresh air and new scenery.  He was definitely a fan of the giant "mobile" they had hanging from the ceiling.  Who knew a ceiling fan could be so entertaining?!

And just for proof that I do exist, here is a little self portrait before we set out.
