1st Birthday Party!

Benjamin's 1st birthday party was last Saturday and we had so much fun!  The decorations were super easy as I went with a simple color scheme of red, yellow, green, and blue so I bought tableware in all sorts of colors, set out m&m's in bowls, bought different colored balloons, and got a similarly colored cake for Benjamin.  We had cupcakes from Crave for the adults and they were delicious, as always!  I have tons of pictures from Saturday so today I am posting pictures of the decorations, and a few of the birthday boy, of course!

On the menu was Louisiana hot crab dip, gumbo, potato salad, french bread, cupcakes, and hurricanes for the adults to enjoy!



I ordered a smaller smash cake for Benjamin but the bakery made a mistake so he ended up with this giant smash cake! 

The "we are special" plate is a tradition in my family, whoever is having a special day gets to use the plate, so of course I had to incorporate it!

I am still sorting through the hundreds of pictures from Ben's birthday party on Saturday, so in the mean time, a couple of pictures of Ben playing in the bath tub!

12 Months!

Well, here we are- 1 year!  I sound like a broken record but, where did the time go?!

Ben is just so much fun these days. He is the fastest crawler I have seen and we are working on the walking thing.  He talks all day long and it sounds like he is speaking a foreign language!  Dada is still tops in his vocabulary but every now and then he will throw a "mama" in there and it just makes me so happy!  He is starting to ask questions, we can tell because he babbles and then his eyebrows go up at the end and he just looks at you, but I am not sure what he is asking.  We think he is asking where the dogs are but it remains a mystery.  Food is interesting these days because we are somewhere in between baby food and real food.  I try to give him different things everyday but most of it ends up on the floor with the exception of lasagna, which he scarfed down, and carrot souffle.  In the mornings we let Ben watch Sprout and so far Super Why! and Sesame Street are favorites. He loves to play with balls and going to the park is still tops. Ben is still taking 2 naps a day, 1 in the morning and 1 at night and is still a great sleeper.  Bed time is 6:00 p.m. and we don't hear a peep until about 6:30, although over Christmas break he slept until 7:30 or 8:00.  We read books and sing songs at night but for the most part Ben goes right to sleep on his own.  Ben is a happy, funny, social little thing and I love that he’s mine!

Big Birthday

Benjamin has a pretty important day coming up on Friday- his 1st birthday!  I can't even believe that a year has flown by already.  In honor of Benjamin's upcoming birthday, I want to share with you some of my favorite moments from this year.  Of course, I share those with you everyday here, but I was going through all of the pictures I have from this year and just can't help but want to share a few.  So for the next few days, enjoy looking back at this sweet, sweet, boy grow throughout the year.

Cozy Coupe!

Nana Debs and Pops bought Ben a Cozy Coupe for his birthday.  We decided to put it together a little early and I am so glad that we did because Ben LOVES it!  He spent all day Saturday in the Cozy Coupe, literally!  The new Cozy Coupe has a floor board that can be taken in and out for babies Ben's age and then as they get older and can pedal it themselves the floor board comes out.  We started out just pushing Ben up and down the driveway and when we would stop he would start crying so we ventured out around the neighborhood and he just loved it!  If we stopped pushing, he cried, when we came home for a nap, he cried, when he woke up from his nap he went straight for the Cozy Coupe and wanted to get in it, once he was in it he cried to be pushed and kicked his legs so back out we went to ride around the neighborhood.  It was really cute, I must say, and a nice workout for Matt and I!

 





Park Fun!

Although it has been pretty cold here the last few weeks we have still managed to walk to the park in our neighborhood quite a bit.  Benjamin loves the swings but is not so much a fan of playing in the grass.  These faces he made the other day just crack me up.  He is such a silly boy!
